Eligibility: Applicants must be of Scottish or Scottish-American descent. Students must be entering their third or fourth year enrolled in a U.S. or Scottish college or university. Full-time graduate students may also apply. Scholarship recipients are based on financial need. U.S. applicants must maintain their permanent residence in Mid-Atlantic region (Washington DC, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Virginia). Generally 5-10 awards are granted each year, totaling in excess of $20,000.

They must be majoring in industrial hygiene, occupational safety, environmental science or a related subject and must be involved in extracurricular activities pertaining to occupational safety. They must have a major GPA of 2.5 or higher on a four-point scale. Selection is based on the overall strength of the application.
