Eligibility: Applicants must have completed one or more of the following degrees or its equivalent: M.D., Ph.D., M.D./Ph.D., D.D.S. or D.V.M. Applicants should submit an application cover sheet, sponsor's biographical sketch, CV, degree certificate, letter, research proposal, summary of research form, up to three reprints of work and four letters of reference. This is a three-year award with various deadlines and funding. The research must be conducted at a university, hospital or research institution. International candidates may apply to do their research only in the United States.

Amount: $50,000-$60,000 plus expenses

Eligibility: Applicants must be full-time students pursuing a career in medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, physical or occupational therapy or medical technologies. R.N. students and those pursuing an M.D. or D.D.S must have completed at least one year of schooling at an accredited institution. All others must be entering at least their third year of school. Pre-med students are not eligible. Applicants must be U.S. or Canadian citizens.

Eligibility: Applicants must be employed, or be under contract to be employed, at an eligible site, provide proof of eligible student debt, provide primary care and sign a contract to serve for at least three years. Applicants may apply for a fourth and fifth year award of up to $25,000 per year based on debt remaining. Eligible professions are physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner, licensed nurse, midwife, pharmacist, dentist or dental hygienist.

Eligibility: Applicants must live in Maryland, and they must be employed full-time by Maryland state or local government or nonprofit organizations that serve low income or underprivileged people. They must have a degree from a Maryland college or from any law school, or certification from the Maryland State Department of Education. Priority is given to individuals who have graduated in the past three years. Applicants must also have college loans on which they have not defaulted, and each person's annual gross salary must be under $60,000. Applicants must work in one of the following positions: lawyers, teachers, nurses, nurse faculty members, physical and occupational therapists, social workers, speech pathologists or physician assistants.

Maryland Dent-Care Loan Assistance Repayment Program

Eligibility: Applicants must be residents of Maryland with valid unrestricted licenses to practice dentistry in Maryland. They must be employed full-time as dentists in Maryland, and they must be providing care to Maryland Medical Assistance Program (MMAP) recipients. At least 30 percent of each applicant's patients must be from the MMAP program. Applicants must have outstanding loans on which they have not defaulted.

Amount: Up to $23,740

Minority Dental Student Scholarship

Eligibility: Applicants must be African American, Hispanic or Native American full-time students entering their second year in an accredited dental program and must demonstrate a minimum financial need of $2,500. Applicants must submit applications, two reference forms, enrollment letters and biographies. Selection is based on financial need, academic achievement, biographical sketch and references. A minimum 3.0 GPA is required. Only two scholarship applications per school are allowed, so schools may set their own in-school application deadlines that are earlier.

Eligibility: Students must be juniors or sophomores studying full-time for an associate's or bachelor's degree at an accredited two- or four-year institution. They must be U.S. citizens, nationals or permanent residents and be committed to a career related to the environment, tribal public policy, or Native American health care. Students must be nominated by a college or university faculty representative and must have a grade point average equivalent to a "B" or higher.

Selection is based on demonstrated commitment to the environment, tribal public policy or Native Americal healthcare. Selection is also based on potential of applicant to make significant contributions, leadership, character, desire to make a difference and demonstration of diverse interests and activities.

Amount: Up to $5,000

Research Training Fellowships for Medical Students (Medical Fellows Program)

Eligibility: Applicants must be enrolled in a U.S. medical school or dental school, and the fellowship research may be conducted at an academic or nonprofit institution in the United States or abroad if the fellow's mentor is affiliated with a U.S. institution. The research should focus on biological processes or disease mechanisms. The fellowship is based on the applicant's ability, potential research career as a physician/scientist and training. Applicants must submit research plans, personal statements, letters of reference, transcripts and MCAT or DAT scores.

Amount: $40,500
